Welcome to my site in the Fine Arts Department at Grande Prairie Regional College

These pages exist to help current and prospective students learn more about the courses I teach, and to improve their skills as students.

In 2013-2014 I am teaching courses in percussion, popular music, world music, music appreciation, music theory, and electronic notation. This year, the subject of MU2640 (A.K.A. “Topics in Popular Music”) is still to be decided, but it may be either a course on the history of music video, or on popular musics of the world.

In past years, I have taught more advanced music theory, music history, jazz ensemble, and also indoor rock climbing (for the Phys Ed and Kinesiology Department).

I regularly take students to Europe during spring session in May to experience concerts, galleries, and culture; in recent years we have visited London, Paris, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Ravenna, Rome, Prague, and Vienna. You can view some photos from those trips on the
ID2010 page. The trip in May 2012 was to Rome, Florence, and Venice. May 2013 took us to London and Paris.
You can contact me for details about upcoming trips. Spring 2014 will likely be either to London and Paris, or to Nashville, Memphis, the Mississippi Delta, and possibly New Orleans.
